The market is still open, but it appears there are only weeks left to enjoy what little is left on sale here. As mentioned on the map cover page, most of the back buildings and Section E were recently demolished and vendors who returned after the protests were talking exit plans. While slated for redevelopment for years, the market had remained open and popular with Thais and tourists, even as a court case officially authorized the eviction of tenants back in March 2008 and closed the market management office in May 2008.
