If you are an arts and crafts lover, try to make one of these fairs, now held twice a month, usually on the second and last Saturday (this special weekday sale accommodating women who prefer to shop when the kids are in school). Sponsored by ThaiCraft (www.thaicraft.org), an non-profit organization dedicated to helping maintain and promote traditional Thai arts and crafts direct from the villages. Also featured regularly now are a children’s activity area and a Fair Trade cafe with healthy and organic food. Location: 3F Jasmine City (above California Wow fitness club) at the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 23 on Sukhumvit (F1). Hours: 9.30am-3pm.

Bangkok Book Festival For Young People

Find bargain books for the children at this fair. While most booths will likely cater to Thais, keep an eye out for the handful of English language publishers and distributors sure to be there too. The theme this year is ‘Discover the World of Thai Literature’ and in turn the expo will be designed as a temple fair with characters from Thai classical literature entertaining visitors. There will also be an activity zone for the little ones. At the QSNCC (I3-J3) from 10am-8pm.
