ASIAN CONFEDERATION BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS July 2-17, 2015 More details coming soon, but this will be a big event for supporters of Thai boxers with an eye on Olympic qualification... (it has been announced but we were unable to find details online at our last attempt).
MUSE PASS FOR MUSEUMS NATIONWIDE Through October 31, 2015 Visitors AND expats, look for the Muse Pass on your next visit to a museum in Bangkok. At B 199, it is a bargain as it includes passes to 32 museums in the country, including several interesting ones in and around Bangkok, all coupons valid to December 31, 2015. The pass is on sale at the Museum Siam on Sanam Chai (see A2 on our map), the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall (B2), the Siriraj Hospital Museums (A2), Phya Thai Palace on Ratchawithi (C1), the NSM Science Square Park and Dialogue in the Dark on the 4th floor of Chamchuri Square on Rama IV (C2-3) and other museums until October 31.
RIVER CITY ART & ANTIQUE AUCTION July 4, 2015 The Riverside Auction House hosts an auction of art and antiques today at 1.30pm on the 4th floor of River City (B3) in its Silasai Convention Hall. AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY FAIR July 4, 2012 Join the American community in Bangkok at the KIS international school off Pracha Uthit (see J2 on our map) for an afternoon of games, hot dogs, face painting, free health checks, live music, draft beer, charity raffle, and more. Tickets are B 200 in advance, B 300 at the door and children under 12 enter for free. Note: There is no parking on site. ASIA PACIFIC LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP 2015 July 4-11, 2015 Lacrosse players from around the world will converge on the lakefront near Impact, Muang Thong Thani (I1) this week for ASPAC 2015. Up to 1,500 seats have been set aside for spectators. See ASPAC 2015 on Facebook for more details (the official website www.thailandlacrosse.com down last time we checked).

STAND-UP COMEDY July 24, 2015 Award-winning comedian Ron Josol returns to The Comedy Club (F2 above Royal Oak) delivering his signature one-liners and stories that have garnered international attention. Josol has performed at Yuk Yuks, Gotham Comedy Club, Laugh Factory and was an award winner at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in 2000. BANGKOK ASHES GOLF TOURNAMENT July 24, 2015 You don't have to be British or Australian to join this friendly competition at Thana City this weekend, but you do have to pick a side. The Bangkok Ashes Golf Tournament is an annual chamber event open to all, 11 players a side for the 5 event day on the greens followed by a gourmet BBQ and drinks. KATHMANDU FILM SCREENING @ FCCT July 27, 2015 FCCT (E) with The Embassy of Spain will be hosting “Kathmandu, A Mirror in the Sky”, a special film which is based on the real-life story of a Spanish teacher Victoria Subirana, who lived in Kathmandu for several years, educating the poor and underprivileged children of the country. Subirana will be present for the screening and a Q & A after. Entry is B 150 and Spanish wine and tapas will be served.
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL LIVE IN BANGKOK July 29-August 3, 2015 The acrobatic act like no other, Cirque du Soleil, turns Impact, Muang Thong Thani (see I1 on our map), into a big top this week with 11 shows planned as part of the Quidam world tour production, which tells the tale of a young woman finding meaning in life. BUDDHIST LENT (PUBLIC HOLIDAY) July 30-31, 2015 Expect offices, banks and government services to be closed for Asarnha Bucha Day (also called Asalaha Bucha Day), a Buddhist holiday commemorating Buddha's first teaching to his followers, and Wan Kao Pansa, which is the beginning of Buddhist Lent marking the onset of the rainy season retreat when monks remain indoors. Alcohol will likely be banned from sale so several bars may also close for a night or two. For those interested in participating, many temples will be hosting mass alms giving ceremonies.
